Things to do in Bournemouth

Bournemouth is a perfect weekend getaway at south coast of England and just 2 hours from London. It is so colorful, perfect for summer holidays with plenty of restaurants and bars all around.
If it is sunny and bright weather then the city is perfect to explore on a bicycle. There are so many beaches, if you are looking for relaxing and quite beaches then you will find them between Boscombe and Southbourne.
But Bournemouth is way more than just beaches.

Also, checkout some amazing cities to Visit in Dorset for your next staycation.

Below are the things to do in Bournemouth:

  1. Walk / Cycle along the coastline
The colorful beach huts make a lovely backdrop. The entire coastline has these beautiful huts. There are beach hut lodges as well where you can actually stay during your vacation at Bournemouth.
Hire bicycles and ride along the coastline OR walk on overcliff road and enjoy the beautiful views. I am sure you would love it. You can hire bicycle from Front bike hire, it is 3 minutes from Bournemouth pier.
Going for a relaxing holiday? Then just head to the beach and relax.

  2. Gardens
The gardens are split into three distinct sections – Lower gardens, Central gardens and Upper gardens. The lower gardens are 5 minutes walk from the center of the city & pier. The central gardens have kids playground and tennis courts.
The upper gardens is the most interesting with three different themes – European, Asian and North America. Here is why Bournemouth is way more than just beaches.

  3. Bournemouth Pier – Zip line
The world’s first pier to shore zip line called Pier zip is at Bournemouth Pier. Apart from the lovely restaurant and the entertainments, this zip line is what makes this Pier unique from others.

  4. Oceanarium
Another attraction you would be interested in, especially if you are visiting Bournemouth with kids. They would love having a sea life experience situated at sea side, just 2 minutes from pier.

  5. Golf Experience
If you like golf, then you are actually at the right place my friend. Best city to enjoy beaches and the golf at the same time.
Playgolf is one place and other interesting miniature golf you could consider going to is crazy mini golf.

  6. Restaurants
The perfect restaurants at the sea side, pier and in the city. Italian, Asian, American – whatever cuisine you are craving for, the town has everything.
Some seaside restaurants: Key West Bar & Grill, Aruba, Hot Rocks, West Beach, El Murrino Bournemouth Beach and many more.
City Restaurants: Dosa world, Desi dhabba, Prezzo Bournemouth, Wagamama, The coconut tree, Turtle Bay and many more.
Old Christchurch road is full of restaurants and bars to choose from.

7. Views
The mesmerising views from the overcliff road is cherry on the cake. If you are walking then I would suggest you to go on overcliff road and enjoy the alluring views. There are ways down the beach from the cliff. So, walk and head down to the beach whenever you feel like.

8. Museums
Not only beaches, gardens but history as well. Russel Cotes Art Gallery is only 10 minutes from Bournemouth pier. The most fascinating historic houses in England.
Poole museum is another historic place you can go to but it is 30 minutes drive from Bournemouth pier, there are also bus routes to Poole which takes around an hour.
