Dorset is full of amazing places which are perfect for staycations in England. As the lockdown restrictions in UK eases down a bit, It’s time for weekend getaways. Beaches, Riverside walks, piers, colorful villages – this county has everything you could ask for.
If you are thinking of stepping out then here is a list of places for your next staycation in Dorset. You can spend entire weekend at every single place mentioned here.

Portland

This is the first place that comes to my mind while remembering my Dorset trip. The landscapes and the breath-taking views makes this place an amazing tourist spot. You can spend entire weekend at this place alone. There is so much to explore and so many places to visit starting from Chesil beach, Portland castle, Portland bill lighthouse, St. Andrew’s Church and the list is endless. This island consists of countless scenic walking paths and views.
The view from heights hotel is one of the incredible view you would see. The Olympic rings stone sculpture make the Chesil beach view even more beautiful.

Weymouth

This wonderful town is perfect for staycations. Beautiful beaches, green walking paths, nature reserves, eating and drinking – all at one place. Fleet lagoon is one place you shouldn’t miss here. The houses are so lovely and colorful. St Mary Street and St Thomas Street are two main streets for shopping. The restaurants here are also so tastefully decorated. This place is ideal for a weekend getaway.

Bournemouth

Apart from the colorful sandy beaches, there are so many events you can go to. Checkout some music festivals that happen in the city. Of course go through the Covid guidelines before booking anything. The city also hosts the UK’s largest air festival.
The few beaches you could visit here are Boscombe beach, Durley china beach, Southbourne beach. If you are travelling with kids then you would like to take a stroll between the two piers of Bournemouth for some amusements. The Bournemouth big wheel, Aquarium are other attractions you could visit here. Basically, the place is so exciting that you can easily spend your entire weekend here.

Purbeck and Jurassic Coast

England’s first natural World Heritage site known as Jurassic coast. There is a lot to see along the Jurassic coast line from Lulworth Cove and Durdle door to the beautiful sandy beaches, Studland and Shell bay.
Not only this, Purbeck has number of attractive villages to explore. If you like to walk around beautiful streets and fond of clicking pictures then plan to spend your next weekend here.
Even better if you are fond of cycling, there are Jurassic coast cycle trails which consists of family friendly routes.

Dorchester

Another beautiful town in Dorset. Peaceful riverside walks, the roman town house, Maumbury rings. There are lot of walks that are in easy reach of town centre. If you are travelling with kids then even better, the place has some wonderful museums as well like Dinosaur museum, teddy museum and lot more. The place is known for its bustling market but of course it is lot more than just market.
If you love walking and exploring like me then the town is just perfect for your staycation.
